After my trip to Hawaii, I've officially become obsessed with acai bowls. I've finally got around to creating my own at home! These bowls are easy to make, refreshing to eat, and make a great a morning treat or summer dessert. It's basically like frozen sorbet or fruity ice cream, except healthy and suitable for breakfast. Sign me up!

Acai bowls can be topped with any fruits or delicious fixings you can get your hands on! Make sure to bake up a batch of my homemade hemp granola and throw it on top for a satisfying crunch.

    Course: Breakfast
    Cuisine: Hawaiin
Keyword: acai, acai bowl, granola, smoothies
    Prep Time: 10 minutes minutes
    Total Time: 10 minutes minutes
    Servings: 2 small bowls
    Author: Lauren Toyota

    Ingredients

    acai smoothie

    • 1 acai smoothie pack
    • 1 C frozen mixed berries
    • ½ C unpasteurized apple juice

    toppings

    • sliced banana
    • flaked coconut
    • homemade hemp granola
    • agave nectar

    Instructions

    • Run the acai frozen smoothie pack under water for a few seconds and break it up into chunks with your hands while still in the plastic. Remove the plastic and place pieces into a high-powered blender, and combine with frozen berries and apple juice until very smooth. Because this is a thick frozen smoothie, you'll need to stop and start your blender to push the frozen pieces closer to the bottom to get it well combined. If you have a Vitamix, use the the baton that comes with it and gently push the fruit closer to the blade while running the blender... carefully!
    • Empty the mixture into your bowls and top with sliced banana, flaked coconut, homemade hemp granola or a pre-made granola or your choice, and a drizzle of agave. For an added indulgence, add some coconut whip as well!

        Hey Odessa
Don't know where you live, but we're in Toronto and have found them at Whole Foods, Loblaws, Fiesta Farms, and Essence of Life in Kensington Market. Most health food stores will have this in the freezer section and even some major grocers might carry them or be able to order them if you request.
